So are Seattle, Boston and Birmingham, Alabama.” Food journalists are thronging to Birmingham to see why.Food is a huge part of the total hotel experience. At The Tutwiler, we are pleased to introduce the newest and most exciting addition to the city’s food scene with our signature restaurant, called icon. The restaurant is owned and operated by renowned Birmingham restaurateurs Geoff Slate and Alan Dobbs, who created the innovative Restaurant G In the city center.

Restaurant icon has a chic, modern look designed by Slate and Dobbs and executed by the Birmingham architectural firm of Hendon and Huckestein. The look through original windows at the urban landscape makes patrons feel as if they are in New York City. Floor to ceiling curtains grace the interior while the rich brown and gold colors of the interior lend a luxurious feel to the room. Fresh flowers in vases attached to the walls and contemporary give it a bright look.A well stocked bar and friendly staff make sure that guests and locals alike feel as if they are in their neighborhood restaurant. In fact, downtown residents have been excitedly awaiting the return of their city center place to gather.
Conveniently located in the center of the hotel, icon restaurant and bar serves breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday, as well as Brunch and Dinner on Sunday. The menu is contemporary Southern, featuring new twists and tastes.
